Pregnant Olympic Gold Medalist ‘Lauren Holiday’ Battling Brain Tumor

Two-time Olympic gold medalist and member of the U.S. Women’s National Soccer Team is pregnant with her first child and was recently diagnosed with a brain tumor.

The 28-year-old disclosed that she will undergo surgery to remove the tumor after she puts-to-bed, and her NBA player husband Jrue Holiday will miss part of the regular season to care for his wife and baby.

“My family comes before basketball,” Jrue, 26, told NOLA.com. “I’m obviously blessed to play this game and be in the position I am in, but my wife is the most important thing in the world to me. She comes before anything else.”

“Obviously, we were and are still very excited about the birth of our first child, but our focus shifted from having this magnificent blessing to making sure everything is going to be OK with Lauren and the child,” Jrue told the site. “Our priorities right now are being able to manage Lauren’s symptoms and still have a fairly healthy pregnancy.”

Lauren 28, won gold at the 2008 and 2012 Olympics before retiring from playing professional soccer in 2015 in other to start a family.
