“Men can cheat, because we bought the wedding ring… The word bride means a cook” Say’s Ghanaian Celeb ‘Derrick Kobina’

Ghanaian comedian “Derrick Kobina Bonney” is currently trending over his myopic and thoughtless views about marriage, as he say’s men can cheat in marriage and women are owned by their husbands because they bought the wedding ring!

The comedian who also has a history of slapping a lady while in the 2012 (click here to watch) “Big Brother Star Game” shared his views on the Joy FM’s lifestyle and entertainment programme Rhythm A to Z over the weekend.

He said “[Men can cheat] because we bought the wedding ring and we organised the wedding and you bear our surname. We own you. Actually te word bride means a cook. We own them. The man doesn’t bear the woman’s surname. We own the children, that’s why they bear our surname.”

Listen below.

His views on marriage in its entirety is quite unwitty. According to the Ghana vibes, in a bid to clear his initial statement on men cheating whilst still married he said: “I categorically dissociate myself from the statement “men can cheat” because that wasn’t what I said, I responded to the “can men cheat?” question posed by the presenter in the affirmative to set the premise for my satiric submission about cheating and relationships,” said DKB.

“I made those statements with the exception of the word ‘can’ because I am not in the position to authorize actions of men. In the discussion I used the literary device; satire, to address cheating and I approached it from the point of view of men who indulge in it and the flimsy excuses they give. Just as satire requires, I ridiculed that point of view by aligning towards it to make my submissions, so as to give people the politically incorrect and forbidden view of cheating as a topic.

“I am a devoted Christian and therefore view cheating as a sin as it still is. Anyone who indoctrinates the earlier publication does so at his own risk since you are going to account to the Almighty and not me,” .

The comedian is yet to address his statement about men owning women and how “a bride is simply a cook”, we certainly look forward to that…
